Kay, when replying make sure the cursor is below the quote box. I do try, but my Kindle doesn't always cooperate and It sometimes ends up in the main body of the message.

I have to pay careful attention. It's annoying. It is an issue with this free forum. I sometimes run into the same problem. I'm not sure that there's an obvious solution for mobile devices either but I'll look into the support forums. (Moved this to its own thread!)

And if you get in that other area when quoting it won't let you back out. I always have to hit the back arrow and then click quote again.

For kay, Cordelia, honeybees, @pansyparkinson, Will68, and everyone else interested: The solution is, when in the compose-a-post screen, look at the bottom where it says "Preview" and "BBCode". Click BBCode. That will help you see the true layout and formatting of the quote and your reply, and you'll be able to see where the quote box begins and ends. The quote will end with {/quote} but it will use straight brackets and not squiggly brackets.Type your reply after that. Once you've got everything typed, and are ready to post, look at the bottom of your compose-a-post screen, and again find where it says "Preview" and "BBCode". Now click on "Preview" and you'll see what your post will look like. If you like it, click "create post". If you don't like it, click on "BBCode", make your edits, then click "Preview" again to see what it will look like. When ready, create your post. This method also works for both editing old posts and creating new posts.

adding onto my above post ...
Optional:
You can go to your own profile, select "edit profile", go to the "settings" tab, and then in the option "Posting Default", set it to BBCode. Go to the bottom and click "SAVE" (being careful not to select delete).
That would make the BBCode your default all the time whenever composing or editing your posts. You still can click "preview" to see what the final result will look like.
